Celebrate São João da Caldeira on the Largo Jaime Melo half way up to the Calderia. The celebrations of São João are among the most important festivities in the Azores. Celebrating Saint John the Baptist, on all islands of the Azores, but also in Portugal Saint John is celebrated. According to historians, the festivities date back to the pagan celebration of mid summer.

In Faial, São João da Caldeira is a two day event with concerts, dance, food, sport and more. You will not need to worry on how to get there, a shuttle bus brings you up and back late at night.
