Update! The official weather warnings from Civil Protection are out!There is some good news, the eye of the hurricane seems to pass west of Flores and Corvo. Also, the strength of Lorenzo has weakened overnight and should reach us as a category 2 storm on Tuesday evening. Also, rainfalls seem to be moderate, so a lower risk of flooding and landslides.For the central and western group, red alert is in place for wind and maritime agitation. In Flores and Corvo winds are expected to be up to 190 km/h with a possibility to be above 200 km/h. Waves will reach 10-15m but can exceptionally be up to 25m. In the central group, Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graçiosa and Terceira winds are expected to reach 160 km/h, waves are forecasted to be between 9 and 12m, exceptionally 22m. For São Miguel and Santa Maria, only orange warnings were issued. A similar statement has also been published by the National Hurricane Centre from Miami, the most professional experts on hurricanes.
