The Semana do Mar in Horta, Faial is the biggest nautical event of Portugal. Between August 4 and 13 2023, Horta, the city of the sea, will host concerts, events, parties, culture and more. Visitors from all around the world come to Faial to celebrate the sea. The program of the Semana do Mar has something for everybody. You are not sure which concert to go to? Fadoalado – August 4
The Fado group from Terceira won the song contest Got Talent Portugal in 2021. Fadoalado not only put Terceira on the map, but with their unique arrangements which keep the spirit of Fado without distorting it. Enjoy Fadoalado at the Semana do Mar.
Nuno Guerreiro – August 5
The popular singer and dancer Nuno Guerreiro who looks back on a long and colorful career will give a special concert. For the Semana do Mar 2023 he will be joined by the filarmónicas Unânime Praiense and Humanitária de Palmela. This will be for sure a highlight of the line up of the Semana do Mar.
Welcome Party – August 6
On the first Sunday of the Semana do Mar a new item has been added. The Welcome Party with Discogroovers, Soundprofile and Gregor Salto. It starts before midnight, it might end early in the morning.
Mickael Carreira – August 7
Mickael Carreira will make the hearts melt. He is most famous for his ballads and the romanticism of his songs made him one of the best selling artists in Portugal.
About the 90’s – August 8
It will be all about the 90’s on Tuesday night at the Semana do Mar. Faialense are great at partying, just imaging if the hits of the 90’s are let loose on them.
Bárbara Tinoco – August 9
The singer and songwriter Bárbara Tinoco became known when she participated in The Voice Portugal in 2018. Two years later she was second at the Festival RTP da Canção. And in 2021, she won the Portuguese Golden Globe as best performer. An act not to miss at this year’s line up of the Semana do Mar.
International Folklore Festival – August 10
Folklore occupies a traditional place in the program of the Semana do Mar. The rhythms of folklore will be invading Horta on Thursday night with groups from Portugal, Chile, and Bolivia. Have a look at last year’s performance of the Mexicans, it won’t be less in 2023.
Syro – August 11
Syro is the musician, producer, composer and performer Diogo Lopes, author of the hit “Perto de Mim” (about 7 million views on YouTube) and the songs “Deixa Passar” and the most recent “Acordar”. Syro is another strong addition to the lineup of Semana do Mar 2023. He leaves no one indifferent in his live concerts.
Pedro Abrunhosa – August 12
The singer and songwriter Pedro Abrunhosa is the star of Saturday night. Be ready for a big crowd! Considered one of the biggest names in Portuguese music, Pedro Abrunhosa will bring his big hits such as “Se Eu Fosse Um Dia O Teu Olhar”, “Tudo O Que Eu Te Dou” or “Não Posso Mais”.
Orquestra de Música Ligeira da Câmara Municipal da Horta – August 13
The Orchestra of the City Hall of Horta will close the Semana do Mar 2023 and perform from its great repertoire. The big band orchestra was founded in 1990 and plays a variety of music genres, from jazz to pop, with a repertoire that includes original compositions and arrangements of famous songs.
