The parish of Ribeirinha has been hardest hit by the earthquake of 1998, still nowadays you can see the silent witnesses of its destructive power. Ribeirinha has 400 inhabitants and is situated on the northeastern tip o Faial. On clear days you get a great view on the three neighboring islands, Pico, São Jorge and Graciosa.
What to do in Ribeirinha
Ribeirinha is the starting point of the most epic hiking trail, the coast to coast trail.
Visit the ruins of the lighthouse and the church of Riberinha, both sent to rumbles in the 1998 earthquake.
