One of the most important festivities in Faial is the celebration of Nossa Senhora das Angústias. Religios festivities play a very important role in the cultural and spiritual live of the Açores. Our Lady, Nossa Senhora das Angústias is a week long celebration with religious and secular events in the parish of Angústias in Horta. The main festivities are held on the 6th Sunday after Easter and include masses, processions and various popular activities such as concerts, folk dance, a whaling boat regatta and more.
