Movie Cycle – Women in the 21 Century
The Cineclube presents the next movie cycle dedicated to women in the 21st century. Mustang, Worst Person in the World and Woman at War.
Woman at War (2018), an Icelandic-Ukrainian drama-comedy written, produced and directed by Benedikt Erlingsson. The film tells the story of Halla, a 50-year-old environmentalist from Reykjavik, who decides to take on the aluminium industry in a solitary act of justice for the sake of defending the environment and mitigating global warming. A soundtrack accompanies the narrative in the background, almost like a Greek chorus of the drama. The film premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and won the European Parliament LUX Prize the same year.
